Item is about 2 11/16 long 1 1/4 wide at the top and 13/16 at the base. Appears to be an ancient Chinese writing according to a professor at the local college. Appears to be a silver plate or chrome on top of brass. I assume this because of the way some of the photos came out. If any one has any info would be helpful. Appears to have a hallmark on the bottom possibly initials very small appears to be JJ or possibly J3. I am researching for a neighbor who adores it however he thinks it is an opium box I am thinking match safe.
