For me this is one of the most beautiful items of my small collection. Outside of Sweden Monica Bratt seems to be less known than Erik Höglund or Vicke Lindstrand. She died very young, in the age of 48 in 1961. She worked for Reijmyre. Some of her designs are of a perfect classical modern style, never aggressive. She made wonderful jugs and decanters and drinking glasses, often in this incredibly intense dark red glass which seems to be a speciality of Reijmyre in this time. If you know more about her, please tell me. The blue bowl on the second image was made by Seguso for Tiffany.

I quite like her work. Unfortunately it's still unknown to most of the people (no matter they like glass or not). Your's is a most beautiful vase, so simple! It rally has the look of a "honestly blown" piece.

And sadly, many sellers will claim they are selling pieces from Monica Bratt just because they're made of red glass... I have got an ashtray attributed to her but so far there's no way to prove it (but still, a very beautiful piece of red glass, and oh! so 50s)

@austrohungaro Is it possible that Red is really a color of the Fifties? I know this deep and rich red of Reijmyre only in some Gralglas or Wiesenthalhütte pieces of the same period. Yes , the simplicity of some Monica Bratt pieces is really touching. Dear vlkma238412. Thank you for the link. this article is really interesting.

Well, in this case it has to be from the 50s acording to Bratt's date of death... bur I quite see it fitting in the time's production in spite of the post-war limitations. Red was always a expensive colour so I guess it was not not widely used.

By the way, most of the Per Lütken items in red, which are few and rare, were made in the 50s. Also some Nuutajärvi Notsjö items by Franck or Hopea...
