Someone here should be able to tell you more about these Erté editions. His stuff went through a lot of revision in the 80's. Many pieces were reproduced in limited runs. He was a true talent of the Deco period.
thankyou very much vetraio50 for the love and the information , thankyou very much for your help:)
OMG vetraio50 , your so right about that he really had stunning talent :) im just honored to fined this art poster by a very good company that published this great piece of fine art poster :)
Your poster is called SOIRÉE. (Evening)
I've looked for Gold & Cook, there are references to them being from Santa Monica California. There's not anything much about them on the net these days.
On one version of SOIRÉE on the net there looks to be a signature above the T at the bottom.
Erté's signature is quite distinctive and if you check out Wikipedia they have a version of it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erté
On the topic of his name, here's the French lesson for today:
The French alphabet sounds different to ours.
Ah, bay, say, day, ur, eff, jay etc.
Erté = RT = Romain de Tirtoff (23 November 1892 – 21 April 1990)
THANKYOU vetraio50 for the information . and thankyou for the french lesson, i love it :) can you tell was Gold & Cook a business from what you have read ?
No, I got nothing at all.
There have been some court cases about copyright involving MIRAGE EDITIONS, INC., protecting their rights to images. They not only did Erté's work but also the work of Patrick Nagel in the 1980's prior to his death. Check out his work tool! Stunning! Duran Duran's Rio cover, Joan Collins etc..
Nagel's wife was a model, Jennifer Dumas and I think there might be links between her and Mirage.
i didnt know there were cases . i do have Patrick Nagel and the book also ill pos the book tonight :) thankyou very much vetraio50 for your help:)
vetraio50 i ve added another picture of this being in my modern room:)
Nicely done, as usual, Sean!
It seems this area of prints is a minefield!

thankyou vetraio50 :)
this does have erte's signature on here as well forgotten to say:)
thankyou czechman for the love :)
There is no substitute for an 80's "Nagel" my friend. It was all about a table full of blow, neon lights around the couch, a wide body AMG in the garage, and Nagels on the wall! Interesting poster though.
Erte was very popular in the early 80's. I was in New York in the early 80's and went to his first showing of Statuary which he never started to do until the early 80's.
THANKYOU zguy2112 for sharing :) very cool:) , thankyou very much Phil for the love and sharing :)
