The Betz company was founded in 1895, moved operations to Hammond Imdiana in 1905. By 1937 it was acquired by a St. Louis Company, A. S. Aloe. The remains of the decal did show up while stripping ,but I couldn't save it.
I just got this project finished this weekend.I was told it was taken from a doctors office in 1957 and then used in a embalming room from 1957-2011 when I got it,it had about 100 layers +/- of paint on the glass and all. After scraping that off,I stripped the original white paint off to bare metal ,primed and painted it,polished the nickle plated hinges, screws, and lock assembly. The glass shelves are original and have a bump at the edge to keep stuff from sliding out.
I am using it to store my old and/or restored John Deere farm toys. All of the toys are late 60's or older.
The train is a TT scale ,made by H.P.Products in Hartford City Indiana in the '50s (VERY RARE).Thanks for looking!
