My second Melusin in less than a month. Blues are hard to come by. Then again, any Melusin is hard to come by. Oh sure, you can do a search and find them for outrageous prices. I normally don't care for bowls, as they take up valuable shelf space, but beggars can't be choosers. I found a similar shape in the Musterschnitte from 1905, PN 2509 by M. Waltl. This bowl measures 3 1/2 inches tall, by 5 1/2 inches wide. The enamel is a simple yellow. There is no mark on the base, and the pontil is quite small, about the size of a nickel.

wow very beautiful and stunning , love the colors and the design:)
Gorgeous!...:-)
fantastic!
its a designer shape too...Bauer i think
I didn't find anything under Bauer in Ricke II close to this, but as we know, that book is not all-inclusive.
what year do you think this probably is?
oh dur, prolly 1905 right, :)
If the shape I found is the correct PN for this, it would be 1905
The profile shape is identical to the one in the book. The height of mine is between the two sizes listed (2.5" and 4"). Only the smaller one lists Melusin as a decor for that shape, but I don't think they are 100% complete when listing decors and sizes in the book.
I have another book :) there are still a lot of lost records though
Weren't most of the missing ones between 1900-1902? Melusin was most common between 1904-1907 if I recall, which would narrow down the time period somewhat.
most missing are those time frame but other years have significant losses as well. I am up to 1908.. haven't seen this exact piece yet but there were two pages missing around the melusins I did see.I didn't look at 04
I see the shape you see Dave. there are 4 listings for it, 65,82, 100, 123 mm the 82 is the one with melusin it doesn't call out blau melusin.
I also see what Jericho is calling out it is 200 mm and was made in melusin but blue is not called out. most of these call out colors.. I would totally believe that record keeping wasn;t complete though
there are a few pages with shapes like this, most are a lot bigger than this piece.
alrighty, made it thru 1904 too. There were about three pages with shapes like this most of them way too big to be yours. I am guessing it probably is the M Watle example
Dave - for the enameled decor (something similar to it), check out PN 89/LB 60 (L. Boutigny, Paris)
Good eye Warren, the enamel looks a lot like this piece.
