I PURCHASED THIS AT A ESTATE SALE. IT IS VERY LIGHT NOT HEAVY. MY QUESTION IS THIS SOMETHING THAT WAS ON A LOCOMOTIVE? IS IT RARE ? AND ALSO ABOUT HOW MUCH IS SOMETHING LIKE THIS WORTH? I PAID 275 DOLLARS FOR IT.

Could have been on any GE manufactured electric motor. It is known as a builders plate.
so are those common? when i first saw it i thought it was a old sign from og&e (oklahoma gas and electric company) but after some research i saw general electric had locomotives. the man that sold this had been in the railroad for a long time. thank you for the information.
The GE logo in the circle is an early version but again these were placed on any industrial size GE manufactured electric motors. Couldnt tell if its from an actual railroad engine. Search google images for GE industrial motors and see if you can find a similar builders plate.
thank you mustangtony
