Greatsnowy…

I just got this giant Legras vase. I found the shape in the legras book. this is the largest size this piece came in. I'd call a vase like this a vase but it's properly a jardinere according to the advertising literature. The flower is anemones.
the advertising says
"Jardiniere Thais" 2800 decor Anemones email violetinne Circa 1891
I was shocked when I got it. It's by far the best piece I've got of this styling yet and it's huge. I have some really tall pieces in this style of decor but this while about ten inches tall is also ten inches wide. So the over all footprint is enormous compared to the vases that are just tall. It would be great for a large bouquet of roses but I'd be loathe to use it for that because it's in pristine condition other than missing most of the gilding on the rim and I am hell on vases. I leave flowers and water in them forever.

The pictures make it look small; mostly because we are used to items in this shape being 4" to 6" tall - so I can imagine your surprise and delight when you unpacked this behemoth. I try to imagine what an item will look like when I see pics online, so this one would have floored me too. It is a wonderful piece of Legras; great find!
i knew from the height in the listing it was going to be big but yeah... mentally you think small for this
This is very beautiful!...:-)
