Found this at an estate sale. It's in perfect condition. I have no idea about it. It stands about 7 inches tall, and 5" across the top. Very unique dolphin pedestal. I also just noticed on the bottom of the plate there are crane like birds embossed there.
This was made by Model Flint Company while part of National Glass Co., ca 1900. Probably sold as a card receiver. Thanks to Paul for identifying this piece !

How big around is it? Could it be a cake stand?

Hi..no, it's not near large enough for a cake. It's about 5 " across the top. I just noticed the pedestal is a dolphin flipped up.

This was made by the Model Flint Glass Company while part of National Glass Co, ca. 1900. It was also made in other opalescent colors (clear, canary) Collectors call it "Dolphin and Herons." A scarce vase was made from the same mould. This was more than likely sold as a card receiver.
