It's a Mk3, painted olive drab during the 50's or 60's. The Mk3 chin straps were introduced in 1941 as an economy measure. Any dates on the shell?
Hi tinlid, I can not see any date on the shell. I was given this helmet from someone at work, it belonged do his dad, who served during the latter stages of WWII, was issued with this helmet, and kept it afterwards, as far as anyone was aware this was never repainted since the end of WWII.
