Love me some Bargain Buys.."RUCKL" art deco era Red Tango glass covered candy dish with a red and green spattered decor... it is 6 1/2" tall and is 4 1/2" at widest section 3 1/4" base ......last pic shown to compare the shape's, which are NOT THE SAME, SIMILAR, BUT NOT EXACT with different decors... the new red tango piece is slightly shorter and not quiet exact as the millefiori piece which is by "KRALIK".. shapes are alike, but not exact.. Art Deco Czech glass for Export. ca. 1920's - 30's

Beautiful, and so much thought put in to the creation of what I think is a aster piece. The colours look great together and the use of the spatter on the base, then plain red then spatter again on the lid...perfect...btw, where do you lot get these great bases from ? This one looks Chinese and leash looks early American. Just wondering because they make them a great feature. I've got a dish coming in a plain colour soon, a tango one I think by Loetz and would love to display in this way.
And sorry but as usually bunches of questions. You call these candy bowls. Here they sold clear and single coloured glass jars they were usually called. In them they had a range of things like bath salts or cotton wool for the bathrooms. This was back in the 30's 40's and onward. In the shops they might have held lollies or sweets and in the pharmacies they held interesting liquids. But I don't remember us having a great array of the magnificent dishes you imported in to theUS. Or maybe in my family we were different..lol...I'm fascinated with the various condiments and vessels that the Czechs made.
