Father picked this up. Blade is 15.75'' long with slightly dented metal sheath. Not sure when it was made. But apparently has ties to WW2. Been in closet for close to 10 years till now. Not sure where he got it.

Definately German made (Solingen), but Germany exported bayonets to many other countries. This bayonet looks alot like the Belgian Model 1888 Long Bayonet, but I don't know if any of those were imported prior to or between wars. Germany did export to South America, and this does look like the Brazilian Model 1934, but I'm not a South American Militaria collector, so I'm out on a limb when I talk about those.

This also looks like it could be a Japan Type-30 Bayonet for use with the 6.5mm type 38 rifle, the type 1 rifle or the 7.7mm type 99 rifle possibly. If it is then it is from around WW2 era.
Note the German markings on the ricasso. Also the Type 30 didn't have a ball finial at the end of the quillion.
