This is an adorable and unique Murano Venetian blown art glass figurine set of crocodiles. Crocodiles have a narrow mouth and is not oval shaped like an alligator. I really don't know the history or age, but in this case my finding was based on what I like.
Both figurines have hollow bodies with open mouths and applied glass beads for eyes. Each has applied an ribbon of crystal clear glass of textured ripples on the top side of the body and on each crocodile, the applied feet attached to the body are also crystal clear. The head on each crocodile has gold flecks in the crystal clear glass and the crystal feet also have gold flecks as well. Crocodile bodies have ribbon colours of blue and a light amethyst purple glass. Sections of the crystal glass on each croc did react in very pale light green hues under a black light.
Both measure 5" long and 2-5/8" tall.

BEAUTIFUL Leah!!
These are a first for me. I have seen the serpents and dragons along with the more typical dolphins and swans, but I have NEVER seen a crocidile.

Thank you, Scott!
Certainly a 1st for both of us. ;)
My kids would love these - they're fab!
Thanks, Nicole. They are kid-approved. My son thought they were neat. Being so fragile, he was reminded many times, don't touch... just look! lol
That would be my problem - my sons want to touch. Especially glass that glows!
Oh, that is funny. Glass that glows is cool for kids to see, indeed. I think that is great kids having an appreciation for art glass. So much to learn at such an impressionable age and it can be fun for everyone. I'm sure your children love your beautiful collection.
I agree - and thank you for the compliment on the collection!
My two love my glass. I have some doubts about their aesthetics though - the big one is 6 on Saturday and heavily into science. His favourite piece is a very dull little green jade vide poche. He loves it best because it virtually glows on its own - and it sets the room alight under uv. Since he keeps sneaking it away to the uv light, I have given in and gifted it to him. The start of a new collection - and now he can have a proper favourite from mine! I'm working on them ...
MOST LIKLY FRATELLI TOSO.
