latest project has been finished so i thought i would share with those on the site -- sexy sadie as i named her -- is an marked porcelain half doll and based on the quality of the doll i would guess that perhaps the german manufacturer dressel & kister may have been her creator -- but neither here nor there for me as i just enjoy quality and not so much of the other yada yada yada that goes along with collecting
the popular series "downton abby" on public television inspired me to create an outfit of that era -- the most challenging part of the outfit was designing the parasol -- of course a few trips to the local watering hole for those cute little drinks served with the oriental umbrellas started the creative design of "how they do that" going in my head
her dress is made from an old out dated blouse that i just never was able to part with as i loved the fabric -- now i can have the memories of the blouse as sexy sadie gets to sash say about in the imaginary world of dolls and i get to peek in

I know this is a silly question, but I gotta know. You mentioned that this is a half doll, Where is the other half? How is she standing up? Of course you already know that I am in love with her and how much I admire your style and creativity. You are a world class designer in my eyes. Wink, Love it gal!
hi jay -- glad you love her -- a half doll is just as the name implies -- picture a porcelain doll that was chopped off just below the waist -- if you go into collectors weekly under clothing and accessories and scroll down to sewing and once there scroll down to pincushions -- you will see many half dolls listed on ebay -- sadie has a styrofoam cone placed upside her -- look at the first pic -- over the cone once it is dress the outfit is placed -- many of the half doll pincushions of bye gone years were filled with sawdust -- or other fillers which i have used in making some of the other half dolls just as lara and meredith post on this site -- but since sadie needed to stand very erect to support hatpins and would sport a more tailored dress -- the cone was the best choice -- thanks for asking -- good question
She even looks like the Shirley Maclaine character all dressed up! nice work :)
thanks hunter -- actually the outfit is based on the role played by maggie smith -- i loved her in harry potter and just can't get enough of the 'downton abby' series -- it could go on and on for me right up to current times
Maggie Smith is the best - so sassy and hilarious. It's a wonderful show, can't wait for the next season!
i'll be right there with you Hunter -- break out the popcorn
she looks like mae west. there is a picture of her with a feather hat very similar to yours. she is great
hi dollfan
she does look a bit like mae west -- and she has the attitude same as mae -- she is my boss lady here in the sewing room -- of course the florence ceramice girls get a little bent out of shape with her sometimes -- her outfit however was based on the outfits i saw on the english series "downton abby" -- particularly maggie smith as she has attitude also -- thanks for loving her -- she just tapped me and said she to say hi and thanks
thanks to all for the loves
