It was a rambler built in 1955,and only owned by one couple.The husband was into model trains,as there were wires and connections hastily removed by the daughter,before the house was put on the market.They must have ran a hobby store,as I found a business card and the basement shop was equipped with 40-50 baby food jars attached to a rack,all filled with parts,screws and miscellaneous.
It must have been a daughter that cleaned the house for sale,because I inherited a basement "shop" complete with tools,a beautiful old Stanley wood plane,thousands of nuts,screws,connectors,wire and ANYTHING you'd ever need to cobble something together.
There was a built in bench in an adjoining basement room,and the seat on top was nailed shut and painted over.My girls and I took a pry bar to it and opened our "treasure bench." Out came macrame plant hangers,a complete JARTS game in the box,old tools...and this boat.
Someone had spent some time and care on its construction,and it was remarkably intact.And here it was...in my house of all places.
OLDBEER : Like your finds,some of the Stanley wood planes are worth a consider amount,depending on the model and condition.
