Someone brought me a packet of old photos and stamps yesterday including these ones. i think that the third photo was taken in Sydney, N.S.W. [i think that's the coat-hanger during construction]. Does anyone recognize either of the men in the fourth picture? Do you think any of these have any value? i kind of like the circus one.

Yes, Kev, it was the headquarters of the QN bank at 99 Pitt Sreet. The QN was bought out by the National Bank of Australia which later became the NAB one of our largest banks. The site today has a branch of the NAB but the building seen here has been replaced with a very ugly 80's building, I think. The area is still very " banky". The photo is definitely from the early thirties. Bent St is there on the right.

    7. ho2cultcha ho2cultcha, 11 years ago

definitely NOT P. T. Barnum. he died in 1898 - well before this photo was taken [probably 1930s].

Love the photos would love to own them .
The one with the bridge is prior to 19th March 1932 when the bridge was opened as there are still cranes on it and post , 19 August 1930, when the two halves of the arch touched for the first time
