Hi. I bought this piece of milk glass at a flee market just because I liked it. It has an interesting arch on the lid. I'm not sure if it is a chip, or for a spoon. Can anyone tell me what this is? Thanks, Denise M.

It is a compote or covered candy dish. I don't think there is supposed to be an arch on the lid. It looks like maybe it got chipped and they ground down the surrounding area. There was one on ebay that did not have the arch cut-out.
I see another being offered but without lid. Manufacturer unknown.
Thank so much!
