I found this hat in the attic putting the Christmas decorations away.
Thought it was neat. The mark in the hat says Colbert a Marshall Field's Company Chicago. Can anyone tell me what kind of hat it is? We have an old farm house, and it was just laying up there in the corner w/ insulation all over it. I want to give it some TLC.

In the US this is a derby, but could also be called a bowler, coke,or billycock hat depending on where your from. Since you found it at a farm it was probably used as a riding hat. You could google search it to see some people who wore this style, like Charlie Chaplin. Check out wikipedia. Nice hat!
Thanks! I went to Wikipedia like you suggested I've got lots of info now.
