I HAVE JUST DELETED A POST FROM TWO MONTHS AGO, DUE TO SURPRISING NEW INFORMATION.
TRYING TO HELP CZECH DECO EXPORT COLLECTORS, I WENT INTO A COLLECTION OF PHOTOS FROM THE 2012 TANGO EXHIBITION IN PRAGUE.
I DETERMINED TO BREAK DOWN EVERY PAGE INTO INDIVIDUAL PICTURES IN ORDER TO LOOK AT THEM MORE CLOSELY. I WAS LOOKING FOR ANY PICTURES OF WELZ GLASS, SINCE I STRONGLY DOUBT THE RECENT WELZ AVALANCHE. I FOUND HALF OF A PICTURE, THE OTHER HALF BEING TOMASCHIK, BUT 4 FOR RUCKL. BUT THAT'S ANOTHER STORY.
UNFORTUNATELY, IN THE COURSE OF DOING IT, I ACCIDENT-ALLY ERASED THE PAGES FOR HANTICH, OERTEL AND PALDA. IF ANYONE HAS THEM PLEASE SEND THOSE THREE TO MY E-MAIL ADDRESS.
BUT I MANAGED TO SAVE A FEW PICTURES FROM EACH. AND IN ONE OF THE PALDA CATALOG PAGES I FOUND TO MY UTTER SURPRISE MY "POSHINGER" VASES, WHICH NOW HAVE CHANGED BOTH IDENTITY AND NATIONALITY.
NOT POSHINGER BUT PALDA
NOT GERMAN BUT CZECH.
PLEASE LOOK AT THE VASE AT THE END OF THE FIRST ROW IN PIC. 1. I LITERALLY RAISED MY EYES AND IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, FOR ONLY YESTERDAY I WAS MOVING THEM TO MAKE SPACE FOR MORE XMAS VASES (ALL SPATTERS) AND DECIDED TO KEEP THE GREEN ON THE SHELF.
ALL OF THEM HAVE PERFECTLY POLISHED PONTILS, AS EVIDENCED IN PIC. 3.
I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF THE PASSAU MUSEUM HAS DONE IT AGAIN IN TERMS OF MISIDENTIFICATION.
IF YOU HAVE A CATALOG PAGE, BREAK IT DOWN, STUDY IT. TANGO IS NOT ONLY KRALIK, WELZ OR RUCKL, AS THE EXHIBITION WELL SHOWS.
IF ANY OF YOU HAS ANY OF THE OTHER VASES IN THE PICTURE, PLEASE SEND PHOTOGRAPH.

Check your email. Nice posting.
very beautiful:) and stunning:)
Harrach also made a similar shape in tango glass. They did a very similar style to poschinger in the threaded glass with dots. the only difference is color.
Hope you got the missing pages I sent you.

The text on one of the photos said:
Significant but little known centre of Tango glass manufacture especially in the 1920’s was the Teplice region. The Tango inspiration was particularly taken (on board by) the firms of Franz Welz from Hrob by Teplic and the the firm of Franz Tomschick from Kost’any (1918 – 1930).
thanks Vetraio!

Thanks GSO. That is the site that had the first set of photos of the exhibition. There are also some other collections on the net of people who were lucky enough to get to this event. It was an event celebrating the colour of cadmium in glass. On the walls there are more information sheets. But no one seems to have come up with a catalogue, perhaps there was not one available. Perhaps the material is yet to be published. The exhibition includes the really early forms of Tango and moves up to pieces of contemporary Tango from the glass houses today.
