Does this fall into the 'Amsterdamse School' or is it earlier/later? Love the crows!
Some might disagree but I would say no.
This is Art Deco and those terms get mixed up by a lot of people.
For real Amsterdamse School, type ''Tuschinsky'' in Google. That is a theatre in Amsterdam in Amsterdam School style.
You'll see it's far more vibrant/extravagant than Art Deco.
Thanks Vetraio and Blunderbuss
Thanks bratjdd.
Thanks Lisa and Hunter.
Thank you. Merry X-mas to you too Bellin68.
It is an amazing cabinet! The round inlays with the animals inside do remind me of Paul Hankar's house in Brussels (only they were made in stone there).
Need this in my house...seriously. Beautiful!
Thanks austrohungaro, I'll try to look that up.
Haha cogito and thanks. I'm afraid it won't be this one but I hear ya. When I saw this one I had the same reaction, and luckily I was the first one te see it and grab the opportunity with both hands.
Thanks for the loves Guys 'n Girls.
i knew i was going to love this one also after i saw the desk posting and you mentioned crows -- goodness -- i love those birds -- this is a real beauty also -- you have GREAT taste
Thanks epson for the compliment. I love the crows too. Better than the white doves on the desk. Even the branch on which the crows stand and the background are beautiful in detail and inlay.
Thanks czechman and toolate2.
Thanks woman34 and amberrose !!
super piece top inlay .....speechless
You should see it in real life. It is so much more beautiful than on the photo and a lot better and more beautiful than the desk with the doves. Really. Don't mean to brag.
i believe you bazelmania in real life you also get the smell wich can be nice too
Oh yes. Old oak never stinks.
I would have bought the desk too, but I am totally besotted with this piece of furniture. Whatever you paid for it, it wasn't enough.
From a UK point of view it looks very arts and craft, like it was made for Liberties.
That is very true.
The cupboard was 650 euro. The desk I rejected at 2625 euro.
