Mrs. Holt's Long Beach Executive Association convention June 23-24, 1930 is my treasure. Her name is handwritten in frame above ribbon pin. This shows the LB pike, the downtown skyline (I think my apt. building is on this medal!!!) and a plane flying above it all. Sad that the ribbon is frayed and hard to read. I can just see Mrs. Holt attending events in downtown Long Beach - promoting the new airport, the new aerospace industries ...downtown shops, businesses....yeah I should probably show this to the historical society and get the rest of the story...

The blue, red, bronze enamel "A" pin is a unit pin for the 7th Army. The letter "A" for(Army) is formed by seven steps indicating the numerical designation of the unit.
The was a tab added later with the words "Seven Steps To Hell"

Wow Ttom - I didn't realize my A pin was so special - I love the seven steps to hell tag. How old do you think it is? Thanks for giving me this extra info and Jim & AR8Jason - thanks for your comments too. I am respectful of these items because I own them - but I didn't earn them. I also have my Dad's wings from Korea (navigator, B29? I'm not sure). For some reason my brothers didn't want them. I cannot understand that. Anyway I have them and they are well-loved and safe for the next generation.
The 7th Army was activated in Germany on July 10, 1943 and continued until 1989 when the name was changed to United States Army Europe (USAREUR)

You mention the bronze US disk is also a pinback? These WWI era disks, meant for the collar of a uniform, usually have a screw post on back for inserting through a hole in the collar and tightening with a flat nut. The few pin back collar disks were generally made in France during and shortly after the war for our men who were already "over there" and needed to replace an insignia.
