After a long wait a vase I was really looking forward to getting arrived yesterday, I new that it had died and gone to heaven before even opening it (shown in the 4th photo) I was soooo! disappointed that when this beauty arrived in the same type of soft cardboard box, it took me a little while to open as I was a little worried at what I might find, luckily this trader did put some extra padding in but! I am still surprised in arrived in one piece.
My new pride and joy, and it's ((((fantabulous)))) I've seen it described as a Loetz and a Kralik if anyone knows for sure I would really love to know.

It's traditionally thought that the English did a version of these (walsh walsh I think) I don't know if that's one of those verified things or one of those wives tales things. I think Kralik is the other traditional attribution. If I get near my English books I'll take a look and see if there is any kind of verifiable information.
:) It is Richardsons who you are thinking of, and in Mannley's book I wonder about the attribution. He claims records (that are lost) called this ware, Opal Iridescent. A semi-commercial product. It is also mentioned that of the examples shown in the book, the continental (bohemian) version has no pontil and Richardsons does. I have an example with iridescent purple threading with a cut rim, not reheated and does not have a pontil on the base. Your example with the ruffled rim, I would think it would have to have a pontil regardless to be able to do the finishing work such as applying threading.

Right on, Alisa! lol Mannley does give a good attempt with comparing the difference of how British and Bohemian glass was produced. Going through the read, I had the impression at times he was prejudiced of Bohemian glass. (yawn) However, on the subject of MOP decors in the book, I think they are ALL Kralik.
I have that book but I never look at it because it's a pointless exercise. :)

I really thought at last I could confidently sound like I was getting somewhere with my attribution even if I was hedging my bets with a fifty chance either way. BUT!!! noooo!.. along comes all these other possibilities!
Am I ever going to learn anything? maybe one day I will get one right!... the only good thing about it all is.. I love nice glass!!...:-)

my appologies Inky, have not been to your page in a while...moved and been extremely busy. But enought with the excuses...haha. I love the collection you are building. You have some very very nice items. It seems you are trying to move on to collecting the more costly glass as am I. I love all sorts but Im finding my taste far exceeds my wallet. I did pick up a nice Loetz rusticana a little while ago and I am totally in love with the Loetz family of glass. I am trying to find every piece i can afford...Im a glass addict Im thinking. Please no need to apologise I too have been busy these last two or so weeks and find it hard to sit and properly go through it all, I just flit in and out out. Yes! I too have champagne taste and a beer wallet and look out for elusive bargains, also with my lack of knowledge am bit weary of bidding too high on anything.
