Also in the same lot were seven 5”x7” photos of what appears to be a mountain training exercise, and again I’ll just show off the best.
The first show the Chasseurs Alpins fording a mountain stream with pack and equipment, each carrying what appears to be a large alpenstock.
In the second photo, you can make out a line of Chasseurs snaking their way up into the mountains.
Third appears to be Chasseurs at rest, some of which have scaled halfway up the rock formation and are perched up on the side.
Lastly is a formation with a Chasseur performing a rifle salute with his 1886 Lebel Rifle with fixed bayonet , and (based on the stripes on the hat and sleeves) a colonel in boots, spurs and with sword presenting what looks to be flowers (??) to the chasseur, and a captain in putties and spurs in the foreground looking on.
