It is gorgeous. I wish I had shades like this vase. Has anyone ever seen a shade?
thanks lisa.. i never seen a shade, this is my first time seeing this color/decor
Nor a Rindskopf decor. This kind of iridescent pink is tradeamark Kralik.
thanks charcoal, macart, madforglass.es and phil for the loves.. Alfredo, do you have any examples to show me?
Absolutely beautiful czechman!! What a Christmas pressie!!!;-)
thanks justanovice
another pretty fine czechman -- love those christmas gifts "from me to me" also
Wow wow wow!
thanks epson233, amberrose and ozmarty
craig, i agree on rosa's examples she shared.. had a look on al's site and found a few kralik examples with similar ground color but they were all silberband decors..
thanks kyle
.... and we're sure this isn't Loetz Rosa Papillon?
or I guess it would be ciscele (sp) lil dots.. they all look the same to me ;) Dave L has an example on his site for the papillon in rosa. to me the coloring looks very similar. the shape is similar to a loetz shape I found in the book, but without the rim.
This may be crazy talk though. Many people who know Loetz better than me have already been here :)
Alisa, My other "hunch" on this piece was Loetz.. and thank you for bringing it up i will go check out Dave L's site...thank you alisa for the love and comment. also thanks perfumer for the love :)
It looks pink to me.
I have not seen the other examples you have. I looked at rosa maria's site and did not see anything remotely comparable to this?
There is some pinkish papillon type glass shown in the Passau museum but the glass looks different to me.
There is a baby blue papillon that many attribute to loetz but Dr Fischer attributes it to harrach. there was also some darker blue papillon from Harrach at the jablonec museum. I have only seen a few examples but it appears that Harrach also did iridescent papillon.

this is the teal that is attributed to Harrach. I have it as loetz. I haven't updated my website in quite awhile. I need to.
thanks Bellin!
all that other stuff in the address isn't necessary. every now again I link to my temporary amazon cloud address without meaning to. it's just http://www.thegildedcurio.com
Loetz has more than one color used as pink ground in their glass. see the other link I posted from passau.
David L's piece does not look that pink
Hey guys, sorry to have missed out on the discussion!.. the ground color is Rose/Pink.. darker at the bottom and the color does get lighter as the top expands.. the last pic i added to show the decor in natural light

his pics are taken in a way to maximize the iridescence but if you look at the base color it's far closer to the piece above in coloring. It looks like it has an orangy tinge.

Alisa, I have posted pics of the examples craig was talking about.. and thanks for your post :)
Sean, thaks so much
thanks phil
Craig, I see the differences between mine and david's.. his ground to me appears more of a "Bronze ish" ground.. but still liking the idea of Loetz as it was my second "hunch" i remeber when i first sent this out to the GH'S i stated i thought Kralik or Loetz..
For the record, my photos are not doctored to make them look more iridescent. I only lighten them until the color is right. I use several high wattage lights and a tent to make the photos as bright as I can, but the colors and iridescence in the photos are exactly what the glass would look like in your hand.
In the second photo above, I can see that the ground color is actually clear, and the spots are pink, although they reflect a gold color. The Loetz rosa Papillon has a pink ground, and the spots reflect a silver color.
David, the Ground is indeed clear, but pink in color
Iridescent glass is just so hard to get to come out in all its glory in photos, so I tried various methods, and the best improvement came from brighter lights, filtered through the sides of a tent and a soft box light in front.
thank you Mac
thanks TamaraB
Thanks Dragonheart43
Very nice Gary, I'm still thinking "Glass", but I gotta say, I like the multi-colored "Czech" pieces.
