Here is the 10th and final part of my "Restoration Series" of this, our 1959 British Daimler Ferret Scout Car. The military vehicles are the "centre" of our family Military Collection. This is the Mk2/3 variant.

In this "last post" for the Ferret Restoration I want to show a little of the post restoration "goings-on" and "outings" the Ferret has had. Keith intends to continue showing and exhibiting it throughout 2013 and hopefully beyond. The Ferret will also continue to be used in aid of different "Veterans" endeavours, educational and rememberance activities.

For those of you who have followed all of my posts in this "series" I thank you all for your interest, support and comments. We would like to point out that the actual work on the Ferret has been more time consuming than these brief Collectors Weekly Posts would lead most to believe. But the hard work is now behind us, it was enjoyable, as it always is. This sort of restoration is to be highly recommended to anyone thinking of doing something like this. It doesn't have to be something as large as the Ferret...start with something a little smaller...the rewards will be the same sense of achievment and satisfaction in the end!

Lets look at some of the parades, exhibitions and military vehicle shows the Ferret has attended, gaining accolades wherever it goes!

Photo .1: The Ferret in the Weymouth (Dorset UK) Veterans Parade. The military vehicle behind is the "Saladin" Armoured Car from the National Tank Museum at Bovington. The crew of the Saladin insisted that the Ferret went in front of them, because they thought the quality of restoration was of such a high order! An accolade indeed from such as they!

Photo .2: Keith (Owner/Operator) poses in the turret with the Bren Light Machine Gun which is part of the Ferret's Complete Equipment Schedule (CES). We have garnered all, every single bit of the equipment that the Ferret should have been issued with when on service (But very often wasn't because of budget constraints)

Photo .3: These Military Vehicle Shows are quite an occurence in the summer months in England. TOP: The Ferret gained accolades from all who saw it at the "TankFest" Military Show held by the National Tank Museum at Bovington (Lulworth, UK.)
BOTTOM: The Ferret won "Best Post War Vehicle" award at the "Cockpit Day" exhibition and gathering organised by the Bournemouth Aviation Museum (Dorset. UK)

Photo .4: An Action shot at the "Overlord" Military Vehicle Show organised by SOE in Portsmouth (Hampshire, UK) home port of the Royal Navy. The next is the glass and marble award from the Aviation Museum. Then we have The Ferret posed alongside a USA Military Bell Helicopter that I think would have been contemporary with the Ferret at the time it entered service with the British Army. Lastly we have the owner doing what he does best!
