Bought this off of a lady who's family was in the military and had no room for it, it is very large. Her mother bought the desk in Germany over 20 years ago. The desk is made of brass and Cherry wood with a leather top. I had a local (Richmond, Va) antique dealer tell me that it was made in Italy and quoted it at 3500.
But, based off of this: http://www.goantiques.com/detail,french-desk-louis,2331792.html , it is a French desk in the louis style. Not sure if that or if the quoted price is correct.
It is a beautiful desk, I would appreciate an opinion as the stories above don't match up and I don't know anything about it.
