I am really into coin silver spoons lately. I really enjoy researching the different silversmiths and trying to determine which ones on the auction sites are real, and which ones are fakes. This one is real (I think).
Three coin silver spoons monogrammed AB. Very good condition, no major damage. Beautiful hallmark clearly visible on all with the fiddleback on the reverse of the spoons. Spoons are 6 1/4 inces long, bowls are 1 inch at thickest. They are 20 grams or .6 oz each. There is something perfect about the way these feel, the design is flawless (thicker than most coin silver spoons). The links below provide more detail about silversmith W.B. Forbes (1751-1840).

Anyway, this hallmark is associated with his work in NYC, NY from 1773-1809. Does anyone think this spoon could predate 1800? Thanks for the help. Enjoy! (I wish there was a coin silver category)
