That insulator in pic #3 deserves a closer look, nice collection!

Walksoftly, I will get a closer picture of that item if you like, but I will tell you that this find took me the longest to identify of item I have dug. I thought it was a small, thread-less insulator as well, so I researched it as one.
Turns out this is actually a slag glass automotive ash tray. there is a hole in the side that originally held a suction cup so it could be attached to the old metal dash boards on cars. Of course the rubber suction cup was long gone. Had me stumped for quite a while...

love it -- like a flashback to my grandmother's bookshelves -- she loved to walk and collect -- usually along the oregon beaches where she lived -- i learned a lot of history from those bookshelves -- thanks for posting

very nice collection especially the ashtray on wich i really believed from the1970 to now that i had an insulator that i found nailed to a pole an didnt believe it was an ashtray since i worked with old cars all my life and never came across an ashtray like it thanks for shareing all the info
