This little angel playing music was picked up at a thrift store for 50 cents...I recognized that she was made from wood, which meant that she was carved, which meant that somebody spent quite sometime paying attention to details. There were markings on the bottom but I knew there was no way I would know what they were, and all my books are for glass only, lol. I just loved the way she was so detailed....then...it's only when I started taking pictures that I realized there was a engraving of ANRI - after researching this is what I found:
" Anri has been carving wood-sculptures, which have become world-beloved, from precious woods for five generations. From their total familiarity with wood and its figurative characteristics comes the ability to transform this material into the most different creations of finest quality. Every piece of wood has a distinctive pattern, the characteristic of superior wood. This attribute assures that no Anri wood carving is identical with another. The sculptures are entirely hand finished by master carvers with love and precision, such as to become an unmistakeable work of art.
Each individual piece is submitted to a quality test at the end of the production cycle, which guarantees the high quality of their products.
The exclusive collections, destined for admirers in all countries, represent a real wood treasure to be preserved for the time to come."

And they are located in.....ITALY!!! I think I was born in the wrong country....lol
The details on this angel is just amazing.....

It is so amazing to me that I search for hours and hours (and love every minute of it) for unique pieces of hand-made items, mostly glass...and I simply picked this wonderful little angel up because she had great energy and I knew someone spent a lot of time on her, she was so detailed, and so beautiful - it's hard to explain...she just had energy. She was laying amongst 100's of pieces...and she belonged to me. Thank you for sharing my joy and a very small part of many hours in researching and learning. What an amazing journey.
I have named her Gabriel.
