Moonstonel…
(158 items)

This is an incredible Carved Cameo Ceylon Moonstone that has just one of the most exquisite full bodied carving of a lady with floor length hair. The Moonstone carving measures 27mm x 13mm and is mounted into solid 18k Rose Gold and has Hallmarks that I cannot read or make out. ..on the other side say 18k. This is a true treasure to behold and I am grateful .....If anyone knows the hallmarks please let me know...
Well had the stone tested and it has been tested to be a gemstone or Moonstone..whew!

A better photo of those marks would help to identify the marks.

One of the marks looks like a boar's head - it's French.

And if you were to turn it upside down, it would look like an eagle - still French (gold)

What is your thoughts on how old this ring is? Because the strange part is that on the other side its like someone hand engraved 18k on the other side of the ring...
  13. davyd286, 4 months ago
The marks I mentioned have been in use from about mid-19th century to the present day. Did Victorians use images of completely naked women without any kind of draping? Or did it start with the time of Lalique?
The 18 k mark could have been engraved by a jeweler as a "translation" after the ring was brought to the USA, but that's just guess.

I was stumped with that question...and you maybe correct that it maybe from the Era of Lalique. It would make sense....and the hand engraved 18k would be from here. I think you are totolly correct that this was made in France and I think with the 3 or 4 hallmarks....shows where it was from. I just took a look at Laliques work..and its a spitting image of the Women he carves...WOW!
When I purchased this ring...I fell in love with it...and never thought twice about anything else...My guess is that this ring is from the 1890's? It's all handmade...and I have never seen another Moonstone with a carving of a Full Body of a naked Lady in Moonstone. Have you? I would love to see another one...if anyone can send a picture...I would love that :)
Thank you....please let me know your thoughts.....

Did you have it tested to verify it's stone and not iridescent glass?
