This bracelet belonged to my great grand uncle, my great grandfather's brother, William L. Poulton. He was in the Navy during WWII, he dropped out of high school to join.
This looks incredibly small, I don't know how he could've worn it, maybe the chain isn't at the length it used to be. It does say "Sterling" on the back. Is there any historical value to this, or is it entirely with the sterling silver? Obviously it's never going to be sold, WAY too much sentimental value.
Nice-- I really like WW2 ID bracelets! It looks as though it has lost a few links and a interlocking ring on the left side (as pictured in photos #1 and #3).
It does have historical value and collectability that extends beyond "silver melt". I collect this type of item (I have several posted on here) and find that I do have competition when trying to buy.
Take the time to attach a note with what you know about the original owner so it is not lost to future generations.

Indeed, that is my uncle! I have some of the papers, photos and this bracelet from his time in the Navy.
May I ask from your experience, what these are worth/sell for? I'm just curious of the monetary value.

I’m wondering if it might be short because it is not actually a bracelet. I have been trying to do a search on short Imilitary ID bracelets. And have found some interesting reads about dog tags. I am wondering if this might be a part of an old dog tag. I am looking for this because a friend found one that appears to be made of brass or copper. It does look like it has some kind of ingraving but it also has a C inside a diamond followed by 2 numbers and then has 5 numbers that look like they were stamped. I have found one site that has a bracelet although not the same design it is similar. My thought is that these may have been worn in the same way that today’s dog tags are worn with a longer chain that went around the neck. The shorter one is removed from the deceased and used to identify the body. Another article tells of some dog tags tghat were laced into the shoes. Just a thought. I really don’t even know if I am on the right track on this but thought I might share my thoughts with you.
