My Love gave these to me in 2005, given to him by his mom who bought them many years ago at an estate sale in Sanfransico. I have been looking for years on something that was similar. I have gone to over 50 jewelers and have been told that it is every blue stone created. His mom called the "Cold Stone". But today I found a site that had a pair of earrings similar to mine and they called them Paste Diamonds, though I am not sure that is correct, but it is the closest thing I have found in 7yrs.
I truly love these earrings, they were screw-backs when she purchased, and since my piercings are gauged out a bit they fit and stay in without worry and the fact they are silver I do not have to coat the post. You can not tell from the picture but they are the size of nickles. And the Color effects are just amazing.
Now that I know what to look for, or at least I think I do, I can not wait to find a necklace or pendant to wear with them for my wedding. :) And once I do ::wedding march:: ;)
These mean so much to me, because of his love, his mom, the history and the time it represents. I am a lover of history and historic preservation, and learning it is "glass" makes me smile cause I love working and creating Leaded stained-glass pieces.
They look clear with no flash, and blue with a flash.
They are not: moonstone, topaz, aquamarine, zircon, saphirre, or opal.
Though Butte Opal is a bit similar.

Theres a way to tell if its a type of glass or not, look at the facets under a magnifying glass, the cuts on the surface, if the lines are slightly rounded at all, its glass. If they're razor-straight, like sharp, then its some kind of crystal. I'm curious to know what you find out!
They look pretty darn sharp to me, they might be some kind of lab-created crystal.
Well, I looked at the closer and to my eyes the edges seem rounded for they reflected my light in a rounded shape. I used a 3.0 magnifier and a ott light.
We believe they are from th 1920's.
