1. A TWO PART LAMP, 8.5" TALL, WHICH BY IT'S LIGHT QUALIFIES AS A NIGHT LIGHT
2. ANOTHER VIEW. BASE: 5.5"; SHADE: 3".
3. THE BASE IS FITTED WITH SIX HOOKS FOR PRISMS. IT ORIGINALLY BROUGHT SOME. I THOUGHT THEY LOOKED ABSURD, SO I REMOVED THEM. THE PIECE IS TOO SMALL FOR PRISMS.
4. AND AS I WAS ABOUT TO PHOTOGRAPH IT, I FOUND A MARK ON THE BOTTOM.
AND NOW, FOR ANOTHER SMALL GLASS BOMBSHELL:
FRANZ WELZ WAS NOT ONLY A GLASS MAKER, BUT AN EXPORTER OF CZECH GLASS AND CHINA!
IN FACT, IN 1885 HE SUED AN AMERICAN IMPORTER FOR CHARGING 100% MORE FOR BOHEMIAN GLASS THAN THE WHOLESALE PRICES SUGGESTED BY WELZ ITSELF. (INFORMATION PROVIDED BY LEAH GOODWIN).
WHAT IF WELZ ACQUIRED GLASS FROM OTHER MANUFACTURERS AND EXPORTED IT WITH ITS OWN PROVENANCE MARK? THIS WOULD ALSO EXPLAIN WHY SOMETIMES CHINA AND GLASS EXHIBIT THE SAME PROVENANCE MARKS.

Congratulations... and remember... it isn't the size of the lamp that matters, it's how you use it! Happy New Year Al!
Fantastic lamp Al, and fantastic info to boot!!! :)
A little beauty!
They used different bulbs at the time; even if only 40W the bulb will heat the air. I solved the problem with a refrigerator bulb at the same voltage but the socket differs. It is night lamp after all and the shade looks better.
Ivan, that's a very good idea! I'll try a fridge bulb.
Love the Czech; in some of my perfume lamps have used a nite lite bulb - pretty lamp!
