I brought this piece of luggage home when I returned from overseas duty in France in 1954. Anyone have any idea of who made the item?

The label says Au Chachet with a Paris address -- is this not the maker?

Trunkman, I think that you are looking at a street address in Metz. However, although I was stationed in Metz for two years, I do not recall street names in the city.

There is a steel label with two rivets on your first picture that is clearly marked "Au Chachet" in bold type and a street address in smaller type. Usually these steel plates named like this are the makers identification and address of their shop.

You are welcome -- it is a nice well made suitcase.
