A found item, all brass and heavy, 3 1/4" tall x 2 1/2" wide. This was found mud encrusted after hurricane flood water receded. Our first thought was a door knocker, but it is very flat without much to grasp. The number 141 is clearly stamped on the back. There may be more markings, but they are not legible. What might this be?

Thank you for commenting. Do you know what it might be?
It is a ornamental brass for a martingale which is a decorative leather which holds ornamental brass for display on horses for parades or wherever.
A nice find.
