    I did a little research on this one. The button was worn by Hessian soliders during the Revolutionary War. This is not old. Does anyone recognize it? I found it at the bottom of another box.

      This button is a modern replica of a coin design of the late 1500's-early 1600's, from the Swiss Canton of Schaffhausen. The Latin legend is the city's motto.

      We found a metal button with this same face under our house which we believe was built in 1858.
