thanks, I love it too
The usual suspects are Belgium and Czechoslovakia; but both Russia and France are possibilities. No marks at all? Palda, Egermann and Gus-Khrustalny are some possible names for further research. There many others. Look for marks of Moser, Baccarat and Val St Lambert. Nice vase!
Thanks for the info. Mother-in-law was from Belgium and it has been around since all can remember. I was leaning toward Val St Lambert but I know nothing at all about glass. There are no marks so it may remain a mystery forever. You are wonderful, Thanks!!!
thanks to all who love this
Any new eyes out there that may recognize this? Have looked forever for it with no luck.
Love it!!!!
You need Tall Cakes. He da man.
Hey, how are you?
Have you checked out the seeing machine battle going on?
I'd have to agree with your European assessment on this one. I'm a student of EAPG so that would be mostly a guess.
Thanks for looking tallcakes!
This one eye, sorry
Eye there are no markings that I can find. Good morning!
http://www.rubylane.com/item/470599-3607/c-1930s-40s-Val-St
Do you think I'm getting close?
No I haven't seen, will look!
I see a resemblance. Sent request to company but did not have option for picture. Don't know if they will get back to me.
this is as clear as it is going to get. rim of bottom is scruffy not chipped but not smoothe.
Thanks sweetie!
that one is close too isnt it. dont waste your whole day on this Eye.
http://www.eliseabramsantiques.com/glass/vases-tazzas-compotes/val-st-lambert-eggplant-overlay-cut-clear-art-deco-vase
check out the shape of this one.
this is a stunning vase:)
Our brain is getting stunned trying to find it
that is a great idea eye4beauty:)
What the hell is a loupe?
LMAO nldionne:)
is this unmarked or is it marked?
The edge on the bottom is scratchy . It looks exactly the same shape as link in #26
Thought I found it on yahoo images till I recognized my coffee table. Hate when that happens!
this very well could be val st lambert:) and all val st lambert items were signed . so is it signed?
Can't see bottom where is scratchy but can't find anywhere
Ohhhhhh
then rule out #26 , because with val st lambert you can always see the signature or acid etching markings or i know in the 20's they did do mold signatures as well so look on the side of the vase on the outside, if not , this would not be val st lambert. still a stunning vase:)
It is very worn, is there any way to buff it or something to see if anything is under there?
you could see it to some degree , because they have a very strong signature going deep in to the bottom, i had a a val st lambert ashtray that i sold a couple years ago worn on the bottom like this and could see the signature.
Okay I'm off to get a loube. Do you know my auto correct thinks loube is olive.
Heres the problem im seeing with these people when selling glass , and i have to say im not like it either , http://www.sellingantiques.co.uk/antiquedetail.asp?autonumber=197053
i dont like the fact that this seller is say that he or she is attributing to val st lambert and not signed all val st lambert has been signed. This not val st lambert, im sick these glass people tricking the buyers out there saying its something that it isnt. so either it is or isnt , i dont buy glass that attributes to not a very good idea , or when they say style like. so nldionne darling this is not val st lambert. but it is still stunning and beautiful. i hope this helps.
your very welcome eye4beauty:)
Thanks don't care if it is st lambert just want to know who made it. Thanks for your time.
I didn't buy this it was my mother in laws. Just trying to get history.
hello nldionne , i know your trying figure out who made this , i understand that. and i didnt know it was your mother in laws. what i was saying is that the people out there online selling glass ,are misinforming people. and its just sad, because you were misinformed as well. so you didnt do any wrong sweetheart, i love this vase it is stunning. i just dont like it when people are putting the wrong information out there.
Hi Bellin.. there is a lot of unsigned VSL out there. they used paper labels.
Hello Greatsnowyowl , yes there is and some of it is just so hard to tell , can you tell me what are the dates roughly that are unsigned.
Hello Greatsnowyowl so is this before1900? http://opensalts.us/References/Catalogs/Belgium/BEL-ValStLambert-Marks1870-1997W.jpg
because anything after 1900 all val st lambert items were signed. right? with the foiled paperlabel and signed .
to the best of my knowledge VSL was not always signed even after then. Nothing I've read from any of the scholars on this topic has ever implied that.
I am not saying this particular piece is or is not VSL.. but they were not always signed.
Hello Greatsnowyowl, thankyou very much for insight and helping all of us to figure this out as well , that was very kind of youGreatsnowyowl:)
this is still a stunning and very very beautiful vase regardless who did or who did not. and at this point nldionne just enjoy its stunning beauty:)
Thanks for the info greatsnowyowl, much appreciated.
Thanks for the loves everyone.
nldionne , have i upset you in anyway?
No of course not.
Good. i wasnt trying to in any way:)
i really want to help you with this:) as best as i can:)
Oh sweet Bellin, you could never upset me in anyway!
thankyou sweetheart:) ;)
Are you in the netherlands nldionne or was this bought in the belgium?
If so it's very unlikely that this is American.
It was my mother in laws, she came from Belgium.
I caught that SHE came from belgium but is there evidence that she had this prior to coming to the states or was she still in belgium when this was brought out of her estate.
She brought it to USA from Belgium when she married my husbands father in early 40's during war.
At this point I have no idea! I'll keep looking since my husband wants to know but I release you oh mighty one:)
then this very well could be val st lambert then, i had no idea before hand and didnt have all of the information about this item , then i would have understood and then yes it is val st lambert and from the links from yesterday of what these people were sayin i have a better understanding.
Thanks, needed a good laugh this morning. Oh I bought a loube for next time.
Thanks Bellin but I am not sure what it is yet but I will keep looking until I'm sure. Good morning darlin
Nope not yet, isn't available on iPhone have to crank up my PC.
thank you for the video
Nancy
your very welcome sweetheart:) nldionne:)
yes i did eye4beauty:)
The Roseville sunflower? Don't know just wanted to check most roseville small bowls don't run much but evidently sunflower is very collectible or something. On eBay every piece I saw was running a lot higher than similar piece with different pattern. May want to reconsider or hold off to research.
LOL. Is emerald green, sorry:)
Eye, this vase doesn't exist. I have looked at every vase on the web I think. Moser, baccarat, st lambert, bohemian, Czech, it does not exist...
Okay, you are right!
http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Val-Saint-Lambert.48.0.html
there is a pattern that is shown in bowl form that is very similar to this pattern in the 1947 catalog. it's called yalta or yalla. not sure which. the undated catalog also had an example with round cut outs like this has as main ornamentation.
Thanks so much GSO! This is driving me insane but every time I start to give up I get another clue as to who to look at. Eye4Beauty is an excellent researcher so maybe someday if we don't go blind by then from staring at a computer screen we may find it. Thanks again.
You are correct there are a bunch of great people with so much expertise and I thank them all.
But do not sell yourself short either my friend:)
GSO I think you're right it really looks close. I was at a get together for my great niece she is leaving Monday to go onto the army so didn't have a chance to check this out. I really appreciate you taking the time to find this site. You are wonderful!!!
You just can't let it go can you:)
It's a good site to keep bookmarked. they have a lot of great catalogs there. It's been very useful over the years.
I have, thanks for sharing.
Oh so true!
Think I may break down and buy a catalogue or something since we can't find on web anywhere.
Good morning. Have been busy playing mom. Found 5 baby kittens 1 day old a few days ago only one made it so he/she is now living with me. We have made it through 3 nights so odds are getting better. Did you see comment from vintage robot on hullow post?
Thanks Epson, I know why I'm up this early but I'm eastern. I have found that a lot of CW'rs are very early risers or insomniacs:)
your most welcome -- good morning to you also -- i'm northwester -- insomniac here
Thanks MDantiques
:) :) :) ;) back atcha
Miss you
Thanks TR
Thanks Antiq-lover
Thanks Musikchoo sorry I missed you.
awww I just saw this. so sad about the baby kitties. did teh one living baby make it?
Thanks GSO. Yes the one I have been nursing is thriving. I had many people asking about him so i posted a picture. His name is Gumption for his will to fight. He is pictured in a little pottery bowl and should be close to top of 1st page since I just responded to a comment on him. I am being told that it is an inappropriate post so it may be taken down, thanks for asking! Have a great day.
Excuse my thought. 3 months and no one here can help?
We worked on it for a long time just can't find it. Greatsnowyowl found a pattern yalla or something like that from val st lambert. Eye4beauty worked on this forever but all his comments left when he did.
Ok, all his work was erased?
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=WlDo-T5rHLk&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DWlDo-T5rHLk
what happened with Eye? I just now put it together that they left? :(
Didn't ask, I figured if he wanted me to know he would tell me. He is missed. Excellent CW detective;)
that's really a pity. Hopefully he comes back!
I know GSO. I really miss his sense of humor. He really made my day.
He did not know comments would be erased from my posts.
Thanks Russ
A million thoughts.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dark-EMERALD-GREEN-Vase-CUT-TO-CLEAR-CRYSTAL-Nachtmann-BAMBERG-Germany-/390395041850
There's not another one like it in the world or at least on http://WWW. For days and weeks we looked at every cut to clear vase there is with no luck. That's why this has been a mystery for so long:)
We can try
http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/more-furniture-collectibles/vases/red-overlay-vase/id-f_584409/
Look at the star base on this one.

I sent another request to val st lambert site to find if theirs. They seem to be the closest I can come. Hopefully they will respond. They requested picture a while back. The circle affect on this one is same as on mine.
This is exact shape and size different cut
http://www.eliseabramsantiques.com/glass/vases-tazzas-compotes/val-st-lambert-eggplant-overlay-cut-clear-art-deco-vase
Oh my, this is screaming VSL for sure. I was going to suggest getting a picture to them.
Seems like someone took a piece of this one and another piece of that one and put together my vase.
Exactly. I am seeing influences all over from other pieces. A collaboration maybe?
That's what we thought. But it could be anybody's. Along with all the other clues my mother in law brought it from Belgium when she came to USA during war.
We need good pattern books to look through. Archives.

Comment #69 is a link to some old catalogue that greatsnowyowl sent me.
Look at the 16th one down here.
http://www.kilshaws.com/specialty_items.php?archive=past&category=Crystal%20%26%20Glass
Go sit on a rock, I sent you that one 38 minutes ago:)
And another piece of my vase:)
Is really strange isn't it? Or is it just me?
I'm going there now.
Sorry, I was just thinking out loud here.
Thanks for taking an interest in this Russ.
Russ, Good Morning. Got response from site Val St Lambert. They say it appears to be Val St Lambert but they do not have this vase on file. Want to send to expert for 90 Euros. It will be worth it to me to find out one way or another. I would like to get answer for Eye since he worked so hard on this. Hope it's a good thing if it is theirs and they don't have one:) thanks for your help on this. Maybe we will have answer soon.
Excuse my enthusiasium. Sweet! Be cautious though. You have stated before that it wasn't important to you the maker , so 117 bucks. Trust me, eye would not want you to waste money.
You may be right. It's just that we have worked so hard on this.
And that last thought is between you and me only:)
Thanks for a good laugh on this rainy day!
What comment it seems to have disappeared:)
Love delete buttons
They want you to ship it to them? and it will cost 90 euros? I think you are as solid as you're going to be on an attribution here. If they say it appears to be theirs I'd run with it. I wouldn't ship it to them. Odds are of something happening to it and whatnot..
Love mysteries.
GSO, spot on! I wouldn't let that gorgeous hunk of glass out of my sight for one second.
I trust your advice.
Oh, today I am mixing it up, I found an old tree stump to sit on.
Tree stumps are good:)
GSO, thanks so much for following the progress on this. I really appreciate everyone who had taken the time to help me with this.
Russ you kind of remind of someone that once used to be on cw:) their screen name was eye4beauty.
@ Belling68
Oh no, is that a bad thing?
no not at all:) !!
Thank you Bellin . I have told him that before too. I love Eye!
reminds me of some of the cut-to-clear St Louis crystal pieces, tho' I think those are typically marked
Oh noooooooo:)
Will someone solve this already? :)
There are really times when it's ok to be, ok.. this is close enough. we'll call it this :)
if something else comes along later.. that's great.. but in the mean time the factory said it looked very likely to be one of theirs. That's solid for attribution purposes.
I asked them what they needed for expert and they said the picture I sent was enough. Since we all know my photo skills I am thinking it is one of theirs they just want payment to authenticate. My husband wants the documentation one way or the other so I will let you know outcome. May take a few weeks. Thanks for your interest and your willingness to help.
what do you need the documentation for?
Don't know. My husband wants it. Maybe he is thinking about selling it to pay for my pottery addiction:)
Thanks Musikchoo
Thanks Manikin
Thanks Eye
Auction this weekend?
Nope, putting a new shelf together:)
Will it support 35 pieces of pottery?
Plus some:)
Yep, I loved it again :)
Who? What?
Good morning my virtual friend!
Morning ... Looking for an umbrella stand ...
What kind of umbrella stand, you looking for someone else or you?
For my mother in law ... Will also be used to hold canes ...
LOL!!!!!!!!
You are a glutton for punishment!
bring it ...
Thanks Eye
Thanks Jack
