AS THE ANTIQUES MARKET RELENTLESSLY MOVES OBJECTS FROM AFFORDABLE TO UNATTAINABLE, ONE HAS TO LOOK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX FOR ITEMS TO COLLECT.
IN 1906, DURING HIS HONEYMOON IN A COTTAGE LENT BY HIS FRIEND, THE CZECH PAINTER SPILAR, MUCHA CREATED THIS SERIES OF 6 PAINTINGS OF THE BEATITUDES, WHICH WERE MADE INTO POSTCARDS FROM 1909 TO 1916. MANY SHOW UP WITH POSTAGE STAMPS ALSO DESIGNED BY MUCHA.
THEY ARE RELATIVELY INEXPENSIVE AND RELATE TO A SECOND PERIOD IN MUCHA'S LIFE AND ARTISTIC CREATION. NO LONGER SEMI-NAKED HAIRY CELLULITE-PRONE FEMALES, FRENCH STYLE, BUT PATRIOTIC, NATIONALISTIC ART VERY MUCH INTO THE PANSLAVIC MOVEMENT.
AS WITH MUCHA'S MURALS AND LARGE PAINTINGS, MANY OF WHICH HAVE NEVER BEEN SEEN OUTSIDE OF PRAGUE, THE BEATITUDES ARE ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE ORIGINAL POSTCARDS.
THEREFORE, I AM REALLY PROUD TO PRESENT A COMPLETE SET, SOME WITH AUTHENTICATED MUCHA STAMPS AS WELL, ALL FROM THE PERIOD.

I just saw a six part documentary on his life and work in UTube. He was Leyendeker's master and friend. In fact, they exhibited together in Paris!
