This is a silver-plated basked with glass inlay, from Urania Maastricht number 1239.
Judging from its number it’s made in the period 1908 /1910
Its dimensions are 40cm (15,75”) long, 20,5cm (8.07”) wide and 17cm (6.7”) high.
The glass inlay is pinkish.
Unfortunately, the silver is loosening.
I intent to let it restore, but perhaps it looses its identity. I don’t know what to do.

Who would have provided the glass insert?
Maybe the glassfactory in Maastricht. Regout made some glass there and there was the factory better known as KristalUnie Maastricht.
Could also be Val Saint Lambert or a german ''Glasshütte''.

In de 18e and 19e century the Family of Regout was one of the founders of our glass, and pottery industry. A nephew of Regout founded the factory later known as Urania.
It’s not known who supplied the glass, but most likely our Kristal-unie. In our industrial area there is also Val Saint Lambert a well-known glass factory.
The glass insert is not marked so we shall never now who the maker was.
Almost al the documentary of the factory Urania is lost.
Lots of Urania pewter and silverware was exported to Great Britain and Germany.
Too bad, we'll never know. A lot of documentation of MANY factories is lost. Due to negligence and fires most is lost for ever. I'm so glad that Leerdam was able to keep so much and in such good order.
Regout is a big name, but should be a lot bigger for what they ment to NL.
