Look at that rough pontil mark! Definitely Czech/Bohemian from the late nineteenth century. The style is imitating Roman glass, I think.
thankyou mustangtony and vetraio50 for the loves:) Hello vetraio50 thankyou very much for the info and the insight:)
looks like a Roman urn.
thankyou Justanovice for the love :)
thankyou Gary for the love:)
1860-1880 sometime or there about. pretty sure this would have had a stopper. it looks like a cologne. Bohemian. Not sure what you mean by what does it fall under?
Hello Greatsnowyowl , thankyou for the information and the date , what i meant was is it loetz, tango , i but take it isnt :)
Not Loetz, sorry. I believe it is referred to as "bristol glass" but am not 100% sure.
Lovely BELLIN, beautiful coloured glass.. could it French?...:-)
thankyou ks85 for the info:) hello inky and thankyou darling for the love and i dont know if it is french:)
its more Bohemian:)
It's commonly referred to as bristol but that's a misnomer, as it's bohemian and Bristol glass didn't look like this. This is some sort of Alabaster or opaline glass. Tango glass refers exclusively to glass from the 1910-1930 ish period based on the bright colors associated with the tango.
The broken pontil scar pretty much rules out any of the top houses.
wow thankyou very very very much Greatsnowyowl for lending your time and information:) very kind of you:)
thankyou dlfd911 for the love:)
So, does "Bristol" refer to a place/region then? Sorry for the off topic question Bellin. Hope you don't mind. If so, feel free to delete it.
thankyou Greatsnowyowl for the love :) your fine ks85:) you have cause no harm :) your fine:)
Thanks :). I have a similar pair if you would like to see them. They have the same writing on the bottom as well.
Yes I would ks85
yeah Bristol glass is referring to glass from Bristol England. All kinds of glass from teh mid 1800's are assigned the name "bristol glass" And it's something that people seem to universally agree on and search for so I don't think it's something that is going to change any time soon. But 99 percent of what is called Bristol glass is actually Bohemian, opaline, alabaster clambroth or milk glass, custard glass.. ect. There is also this lightweight plasticine glass that I don't know a name for that is commonly found under the term bristol. Bristol glass as a proper term is actually a clear marine/cobalt blue kind of color from the late 18th century into the early 19th century.
these are bristol blue

thankyou czechfan for the love:)
Great vase Sean! I'm not soo sure that is a pontil though. Looks like a hollow tube was adhered then snapped to simulate a pontil? That's just my opinion though.
