im all over this one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stunning and beautiful:)
properly attributed too. it might even be signed and you just haven't seen it yet. Sometimes the Steuben acid signature can be a bitch to find. But so far I've found it on all my pieces that I thought weren't marked. you need a super bright day and some patience or a super bright light. look all over the base at different angles. I bet you find it.
Thanks, Sean!!!
Greatsnowyowl ... awesome! I put the vase up to a really strong light source and after a lot of playing and squinting, the Steuben mark showed up. It's a small ribbon in a fleur-de-lis located in the center of the ground, polished pontil. After all these years ... many thanks.
your very welcome rniederman:)
Posted an image of the Steuben acid etched marking ... thanks Greatsnowyowl for the tip on finding the mark. It helps that I own a macro lens. :)
OMG , IM IN GLORY :) WOW WOW:)
good job Rniederman! as I said it never fails. Steuben marks are a bear to find. :)
9" tall ... many thanks, Obscurities!
Thanks, Londonloetzlearner!
Obscurities ... interesting that you mentioned the mark being 'forged.' After photographing and posting here, I did a bit of checking. Some websites show examples of good and forged maker's marks, and I started to get suspiscious about this one. What are the clues that suggest this is a faked mark? (It's always good to learn this stuff.) And why would someone etch a forgery mark on a real piece of Steuben? Otherwise, thanks for looking this over.
I'm just wondering is there any prove that the markers mark or that this is a fake?
You should really check out Corning glass website
Just to verify
The other thing that might explain it is that it is quite original, and maybe one of a kind, a beautiful piece !~
Nice vase. To be more complete it is a: Steuben Colorless Diamond Optic Vase with Black Mirror Reeding.
