What a day today was! I am so excited to post my findings today, it was just one of those days, every collector knows what I am talking about, I felt like someone was planting things to trick me.
I don't usually go to Estate Sales, normally because I am a very late sleeper, but today I decided to give it a go. The place was a few minutes from home, in a 55 and over community, and man....am I happy I went! In full honesty, if I were 4 minutes later to arrive, I would have missed everything I am about to post.
This piece is amazing. The pictures above, do not do it justice, I may have to post more. I scouted this one out beforehand on the Estate Sale website, so I knew it was there. It is about 2 ft. by 2 ft., all hand hammered steel, or alpaca or whatever it is. There are hallmarks all over the place on every tiny piece of metal. The very middle is a mirror (what you see in the picture is the opposing wall). There is a signing on the back in blue marker:
"Ser-Mel Hecho En Mexico"
There is also one very small white tag under the mirror (I took it out to clean, the old cardboard was very moldy so I used new). Looking at it again under light, no exaggertation, every single piece has its own hallmark on it. Please post your ideas I am very interested!!!
Thanks and enjoy.

WOW - If you blow up that first pic you really see the beauty in that. I bet it would great on a colored wall background.
mustangtony. LOL!!! I was thinking the exact same thing. I put it up there just to take the picture, then I took it back down. But as soon as I put it up there all these background wall colors ran through my head.
These are usually made of tin.
it is beautiful bh -- we saw some very similar last year in southern california at some of the high end markets and believe me -- they were not cheap -- i love beautiful mirrors and especially those from mexico of good quality such as this one -- just could not justify the $500 to $800 price tag at the time -- you got yourself a real beauty
$500 to $800? Are you kidding me!? Like....wow. Thank you everyone, has anyone ever seen these at online auctions? I cant find one.
not kidding -- it was one of those trendy tourist traps along highway 101 -- also the cheapest bottle of wine was $150 -- i wasn't that thirty either -- they wanted a lot for their nuance
epson233 thanks for the info.! I hope you catch the rest of my posts from this sale tomorrow. There are a few others that may top this piece, I just couldn't get them done tonight....its been a long long day. Take care!
your welcome -- i hear you -- about ready to hit the hay myself -- and yes i will be sure to check out your new finds as i have been anxious to see them -- have a great evening -- light out here
thank you mikkochristmas11, vetraio50, epson233, and mustangtony for the loves and thanks MawamaMama for the comment!
