    Hi everyone,
    I am stumped.

I saw this little lady at a show and had to bring her home. Although she is a tad bit scary looking.

I have no idea what kind of doll she is. She has a real hair wig, I am thinking it is horse hair.. at least I hope so.

She has what seems to me, paper machete head and hands with some sort of paint and sealant top coat that is crackled especially on the head. she is wearing a silk dress. I am not sure if that is original. Her body is made of a wire cage filled with straw and she has jointed legs and arms...There is writing on the base of the body that says "patented", and ""patent pending" ??

So what is she? a prototype? Or a regular doll?

    Any information work help..

    Thank you so much...

This is H. Coleman walking doll . Often found with faces in bad shape . I believe her patent date should appear on her as 1917 . I have had one and I love the way they walk so natural .Great doll ! They come on market fairly often so Not rare but not abundant .
One that sold . These were not prototypes but dolls :-) Lucky to find one with out face so cracked although I can't see yours real clear .She has human hair which over the years gets very dry and brittle .

      Manikin,
      Thank you so much.
Now I know where she comes from. I think she is hauntingly beautiful but my kids can,t see beauty in decay yet.
I just told my teenage Son that she has human hair ....
      ( that went well.........)
I never would have found this info with out your help.

I am glad to help . Human hair was used along with mohair on antique dolls. It was from someone's cut hair and over time our hair would would be pretty stiff if not washed or combed in 100 years :-) She is a great piece of history and his drawings for her are quite elaborate . I love her . Keep away from dampness to retain her face . Thanks for sharing her !
