I bought this at an estate sale today. I do believe it is 10k real gold, but they had it priced as a costume piece. I paid only $17 for it; it is marked 10kp which when I searched online for information regarding the mark, this is the answer I found in regards to a marking with the "p":
"Pure gold is not practical for most jewelry applications because it is too soft so other metals are added to make it harder. Items that are marked "P" for plumb means that it has more gold in it and thus more valuable so 10kp is more valuable than 10kt."
I also learned that this was started in the 80's because people were being dishonest with the gold content in jewelry. This marking with a p didn't last long because it was too confusing to keep using the p mark.
