This old Spanish gun was built in 1852 in Eibar, Pedro manufacturer Orbea. It has all its original parts and is part of my collection of antiques.

I've studied the lock & don't comprehend how it works. The reverse style hammer mainspring I know but don't see how it works here. The copper screw/pivot baffles me also. The "swamped barrel" is unusual on a pistol as well. Very interesting! Looks like a "dog-lock" in a way. Is it dated? This is a design I would credit to an earlier era. Would like to see pics in diff. cocking modes so I can figure it out. I say Mid-east or Mediterranean.
