I was a crisis worker in Mendocino County Ca. This is big part of the Iron Triangle, area for growing marijuana. Sheriff Tomas Jondahl 1974-1983 tried to stop people from growing pot. This poster he put up on telephone poles and all over the county. LETS DESTROY MARIJUANA BEFORE IT DESTROYS OUR CHILDREN These were torn down within minutes after they were put up! I was on a crisis call, going to a hospital in another town to evaluate a suicidal teenager and saw this poster and stopped the county car and pulled it off the telephone pole! It is probably the only one left as they were destroyed soon after they were put up. The only money in this county is pot, wine, and some pears. Almost all lumber mills have shut down. Time has passed and now if you grow on your own land, they look the other way mostly. It is very wrong to grow on State Park land or any Public land. Soon it will be legal like Colorado. Medical Marijuana is legal, Someday even the VA Hosp. will give it to PTSD patients and others for pain! TODAY'S HEADLINES IN PAPER:

So True! Take care Don
i have a denis peron for president sign somewhere - w/ a big old marijuana leaf on it - from 1977, i think.
"you'll have to wrest my marijuana from my cold, dead hands..." wouldn't it be cool to do a parody of the big gun debate only make it about marijuana?!
So True!
I think the anti-gun people should be shot & the anti-pot people should be stoned.
i can agree on the anti-pot people, but i don't think anyone should get shot. [probably because i'm a peaceful stoner]
Since the Army I am peaceful also!
i love it! i remember seeing these police kits when i was a kid. they had flyers like this in them, and also some dry plant material to burn as incense in order to recognize the smell of marijuana. i have a 1980 Denis Peron for Mayor of SF poster somewhere. he's a friend of mine.
He was and is a real character! He should run again!!!
In the 70's, the U.S. sent a group to Jamaica to do a study on work habits of Jamaicans smoking & non-smoking. One of the group stayed in 1 of my apts. & I asked him how it went when they finished. He told me, "This is 1 study you won't see published. We found that Jamaicans who smoked worked 70% better than those that didn't." He also said their main problem was finding Jamaicans who didn't smoke for their study.
There was nobody workin there when I went to Jamaica, except the women.
Well, they can't grow the ganja on the streets. Basically you're right. "Why pick the fruit when you can pick the tourists". When they ran off the tourists, they had to start stealing from each other & the "take" would get smaller & smaller. Grow some great weed though. The "roaches" they throw down would bring tears to many an Amer. eye. My test was to stick a bud to a wall & if it was still there a wk. later, I figured it was good for consumption. Of course that was just to have some for visiting friends.
blunderbuss2 - i think the study you are referring to was by Prof. Joe Schaeffer who was at Columbia working on his phd. he got a lot of press about it for a short while. i think he even published his thesis, but am not sure. he was a wonderful professor of mine for a tutorial [1 student/1 professor] i did at Marlboro College many years ago.
Ho2, believe that was '77-78. Long time ago but the name sounds vaguely familiar. Thin, had a short, well trimmed beard? In those days it was prudent to not to remember names or faces & I was good at it. Am I going to have to plead the 5th soon? Ah, statute de limitations has expired. The answer to your question is "yes". And imagine, here on CW!
