Here are two large, handmade silver serving spoons made close to the same time. As we can see, they are very close in size! The shape, color, and styles are also very very similar. If you cannot tell by first glance the top spoon is the real coin silver spoon. The bottom, is def. not coin silver, and when I received it, I was not very happy (I did get a refund and the guy to me just to keep it). mikkochristmas11 if you are reading, this verifies what you were looking for a few months back, if you remember, aparantly coin silver spoons do come in the following sizes and weights. Here is the data for the two spoons.

    TOP:
Coin Silver spoon made by John S. Putnam of Buffalo, NY. Spoon with such a hallmark could mean it was made between 1836 and 1839 since around 1839 he join with William S. Wright as the firm of Wright & Putnam. This spoon HAS a monogram, most likely meaning it was made for someone for a specific purpose, unlike the non-coin silver spoon.
This spoon is 9 inches long, the bowl at the thickest is nearly 2 inches!
It weighs 1.4 ounces, or 42 grams. Notice it does have the reverse fiddle pattern.

    Bottom:
German Silver spoon made by the infamous Hall & Elton of Wallingford, CT 1839-1890 Founded by Abraham B. Hall and A.D. Elton. The spoon is also 9 inches long with nearly the same with bowl. It weighs 1.2 oz or 34 grams. It also has not held up very well at all, the color is off, and overall it does not do it for any coin silver collector.
