The Collector’s Fair is a main event for me each month. It is held on the first Sunday each month at the Wentworth Park Greyhound Track in inner-city Glebe. I found this little sommerso laying on its side on a table. I have always been a sucker for sommerso’s! I know a lot of people dislike them and Italian glass. But that’s just a matter of taste.
This one is more interesting because of its size. It stands just 17 cm or 6.7 inches tall. At its mouth it has a diameter of just 0.75 cm or 0.3”. Very fine work. It has a really nice colour and works well with other pieces.
Here I have put it with a Royal Worcester piece called “Italy” by Freda Doughty (1895-1972) who was born in San Remo, Italy.
I'm open to suggestions about the factory. Archemide Seguso? Perhaps the colour suggests someone else?

Well, it isn't that different from the Strömbergshyttan miniature Sommerso by Nylund I've got, only a couple of centmetres longer at the neck...

Thanks austro, I've back to look at the Nyland pieces.
    How tall is your B894?
Is that the number of the tall one?

I love alot of the Italian glass. I think they had some great makers in their own right. Love the color and the thickness of this piece. Still high quality if you ask me. The figurine reminds me of home. My mother had all kinds of these little dust catchers everywhere!!!

Love Sommerso vases and bowls. I have lots of them, with varied colours. My bottle vase Id posted before has 6-8 colours from memory

Many thanks epson. It's covered in clear but the effect is to create a halo around the turquoise. It catches colour from surrounding objects too!

It looks like a Strombergshyttan B930. It was made in bigger sizes than the miniature B930 (130mm), and in different underlay colors (even in clear crystal). Just now there is one clear online in Sweden, 24,5cm length. I have also seen these B930 in a green color exactlty like this. Design Gunnar Nylund in the late 1950s. Otherwise maybe an Italian copy?

Could be Cenedese. Look at this:

Many thanks rebessin and cobaltcobold. I had a look at the Cenedese. I don't think it is theirs. I have had other larger pieces by Cenedese and their form is different. It is round, all around. This one is sightly shaped and has two 'sides'.
I'm glad to hear your comments too rebessin. If it only were a Nyland!

Hi Vet, I have been at hme checking my miniature Gunnar Nylund Strömbergshyttan vase... Mine is a little bit flat-ish, but I am pretty sure yours is Gunnar Nylund's too :)
