The face of your compact is unusual and pretty. Is it a copper or gold wash? What does the inside look like? Sorry but I can't read the marks on your 2nd picture.
The second Picture says. VOLUPTE U.S.A. I think it is Copper. It has a little corrosion on the lid inside.
"VOLUPTE: 1920 - 1960s Volpute Inc. was founded in 1920 in Elizabeth, NJ producing compacts and cigarette cases and jewelry using chromium-plated metal mesh. Mark" Soldered on tag "VOLUPTE" It was purchased by Shields, Inc. of Attleboro, MA in 1957 and ceased operations in the 1960s."
There are many compacts right now on ebay - but I didn't see one like yours.
My guess is that it's a 1950's copy of 30's art deco based on the latch and general construction of your LOVELY compact. Thanks for the 3rd picture - probably a mirror covered the back of the "cover" and the pressed powder w/sifting organza and puff on the gold side. I'm not sure but that's how my compacts were constructed.
