Unknown silver item given to me approx 35 years ago by my father, I believe it is a matchbox, there is a striker surface on the top and a silver drawer. Does anyone know where this is from or the age? Any input is much appreciated. Thanks!

Ah huh! German silver mark half-moon and crown .925 and maker's mark.
"In 1884 a law was enacted making .800 the minimum national standard for silver in Germany. In 1886 the use of individual city marks was abolished and replaced by the national mark (reichsmark) of a crescent moon & crown mark (Halbmond und Krone) representing the entire German state. These marks became compulsory by 1888.
The crown & crescent moon are used in conjunction with a maker's mark and a decimal silver standard mark."

The maker is : J. D. Schleissner Söhne of Hanau.
Founded 1816 - Present & worked in the "Antique" style, often used pseudomarks.
It would be a Vesta Case. Note the rough surface at the top.
