I found this vase at the Rozelle Markets a few years back one Saturday morning. I have no idea why the woman sold it to me at the price she did. It was something that just glowed in the daylight. It is a brilliant combination of two colours. The yellow reacts to black light.
I've put it here with my new miniature sommerso.
The two work well together and have a similar profile.
It could be Cenedese
.... or is it Da Ros
...... or someone else?

Many thanks Plaintosee, to Phil and to you too JayHow!
I'll see what I can do!
My little, very little testing light is not the way to light it.
By the way the little one is also slightly reactive.
Many thanks Mark!
Even though it has the Swedish flag colors, I think it is NOT from Strombergshyttan or Nylund design. Probably Italian? But it's still very beautiful. I have just won an auction on a Nylund-vase in the same style but without the colored underlay, and a bowl of Nylund or Asta S. design (do further research).

A question: Have these vases a cutted and "grinded" top or a smoother round one? If cutted and grinded, they are not completed with the technique Strombergshyttan used with vases like this ("drive" technique, don't know the english word). Then they had only been blown up, drawn out and cutted in the foundry, not attached to the pontil spike
Hi Rebessin. I just had a look at your two new pieces. Nice!
As regards the top of these two. Theses two are both ground flat at the top. They are finished with a slightly rounded edge. The next one I will put up is finished slightly differently.
I look forward to learning about the 'drive' technique. What is the Swedish term?
Swedish: drivteknik (drive technique) , att driva glas (to drive glass), I don't know if it's the right english word?
It´s without blowing. In the first moments they blow air in to the glass. After some layers glass and blowing, a spike with glass pontil on the end adds to the glass ball. The glass is then tapped from the blowing pipe and run to the final shape on the pontil spike, using drive technique with different tools. First cut the edge, and then using for example a thick stack of wet newsprint for rolling the glass. If there is to be a barrel you must hurl/spin out the edge wich is quite difficult, even for an experienced master. My grandfather, master blower Knut Bergqvist, said for example that the hardest glass he had done, was a little thin barrel on foot (M 14) that Gerda Stromberg designed for Strombergshyttan in the 1930s.
I've added a new picture. Sorry about the quality.
One handed shot.
very beautiful under uv lighting :)
Many thanks Sean and to you Obscurities and young Pawls too! The Galliano Ferro name is one I like to hear. I've seen some of their vases in this colour way and a 'corroso' finish. The Seguso ones have a different look again. Thanks for your opinion Obscurities. I agree with what you've said. Stickers make it just a little bit easier. Signatures are welcome but seldom found in my price range.
Many thanks epson233.

Ciao Hornet! Come va? Thanks to both you and stillwater. I have a very large piece in that colour combo by Flavio Poli that I have not yet put on CW. I still have a few pieces that I've been hiding. The large one has Seguso stickers and is a Poli piece. This one mat well be too though I know other factories did them.
Very beautiful and intriguing...love the glow of the UV glass.
